Complete the Onboarding Wizard
When you log in for the first time, an onboarding wizard guides you through setup in 5 steps:
Welcome
Overview of DriftSensor's key features - Monitor DNS, Detect Changes, Stay Informed, Quick Setup.
Add Domain
Enter your first domain name (e.g., example.com). You can skip this step and add domains later.
Import DNS
DriftSensor auto-scans your domain and discovers all current DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV, CAA, PTR). These become your baseline master records.
Configure Alerts
Toggle email notifications on or off. Webhook integrations can be configured later from Settings.
Complete
Summary checklist showing what was set up. Click Go to Dashboard to start monitoring.
Every step has a Skip for now option - you can always configure these later. Closing the wizard marks onboarding as complete.
Add Your First Domain
If you skipped the onboarding wizard, you can add a domain from the dashboard:
Open the Domains page
Navigate to Domains in the sidebar and click Add Domain.
Enter domain details
Type the domain name (e.g., example.com). DriftSensor automatically strips protocols and www. prefixes.
Choose a monitoring interval
Select how often DriftSensor checks your DNS records: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour (default), 6 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours.
Assign a group (optional)
Assign the domain to a Domain Group for organization.
Create the domain
Click Create. DriftSensor automatically detects nameservers and performs an initial baseline scan.
DriftSensor automatically detects your domain's nameservers and performs an initial DNS scan to establish the baseline.
Plan limits apply. The Free plan allows 1 domain (24-hour intervals only). Standard allows 10 domains, Professional allows 50, and MSP allows 100+. See Billing & Plans for details.
Your First Scan
After adding a domain, DriftSensor immediately performs a baseline scan - capturing a snapshot of all your current DNS records. This becomes your reference point for detecting changes.
From that moment on, DriftSensor monitors your domain on the schedule you configured and compares each scan against the baseline. Any differences are flagged as drift events and appear in your Monitoring and Alerts pages.
